As the chair of the entertainment committee for Leland College's 10th reunion, Alex is determined to make a splash by securing top-notch bands that will impress alumni from the music industry. After some convincing, Jennifer persuades a hesitant Alex to allow her new all-girl band, The Permanent Waves, to audition. During the tryouts, Alex is initially excited by the lackluster Polka Boys, but his committee members are unimpressed. However, when The Permanent Waves take the stage, their talent blows everyone away, even winning over Alex, who ends up booking them and takes on the role of their manager.
