Time Team delves into the remnants of this monastery, founded by St Hilda, exploring the front gardens and traffic islands of the contemporary town. They discover the foundations of a significant Saxon structure, traces of a high-status medieval building, a book clasp dating back to the monastery's era, and the intact skeleton of a woman who lived between 630 and 770, as determined by later carbon dating. They also create a book featuring an ornate leather cover adorned with a silver lamb medallion, inspired by a mold previously unearthed at the site.
