An Iron-Age Roundhouse - Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire (S08E07)

The team is exploring Salisbury Plain, a vast area of over 38,000 hectares in South West England owned by the MOD. While the land is abundant with ancient artifacts, their focus is on Beeches Barn, a nondescript field believed to hide an Iron Age roundhouse. In addition to the excavation, they are assisting Ian Apter with an ambitious project to construct a full-sized thatched roundhouse. Initial geophysical surveys reveal multiple banjo enclosures, typically associated with Roman structures. They hope to have the site designated as an ancient monument, but time is of the essence. Joining them are army volunteers and Iron Age expert Peter Reynolds. Among their discoveries are a 2,000-year-old bone comb, a quern-stone, and a Roman coin.
