As Carol and Ed prepare to say goodbye to Liz, they unexpectedly get mugged, prompting Ed to wonder if he could have done something to stop it. Meanwhile, Russ drops by to see Mike and Nancy after his wife throws him out for infidelity. In response to the robbery, Phil goes all out, installing an overly complex security system. Kate offers Eli another opportunity at the radio station, but Jennifer is upset about Eli spending less time with her. Carol grows increasingly frustrated with Liz's lingering presence in Stuckeyville and asks her to leave. After Kate is let go for supporting Ed’s decision on a listener's request, Eli hatches a plan to get her back, which surprisingly aligns with Russ’s efforts to win his wife back.
