Initial findings suggest an overdose, as drug paraphernalia is found nearby and traces of heroin are detected in his system. However, a closer look at the body uncovers signs that Braun had been bound with duct tape, prompting Grissom to suspect that he was coerced into consuming fatal doses of heroin and potentially other substances.
