In the season finale, the CSIs are called in to examine the grim discovery of a young woman's remains found crammed into an overturned shopping cart by a freeway underpass. Her face is horrific, marred by severe disfigurement and decay, resembling a scene from a nightmare, with a conspicuous circular wound on her left cheek. Grissom deduces that her killer not only intended to end her life but also to leave her looking repulsive. The investigation deepens with the cart’s other items: a high-end handbag, fashion magazines, and a coded leather planner filled with cryptic notes.
