Always on the lookout for a quick buck, Ponch learns that Jon used to teach bowling and is still quite skilled at it. Keeping this information under wraps from their fellow officers, Ponch decides to place bets on Jon to win against all the favorites in an upcoming police bowling tournament. Meanwhile, while responding to a car that ran a stop sign, they encounter an unexpected surprise—the driver is none other than Broderick Crawford, famous for his role as Dan Mathews in the classic 1950s show Highway Patrol, which can be seen as a predecessor to CHiPs.
