Dwayne receives a visit from his old buddy Milt, who expresses the belief that Hillman is hindering Dwayne's potential and suggests he transfer to the University of Pennsylvania. Milt also advises Dwayne to cut ties with what he calls "dead weight," referring to Ron. Dwayne ponders Milt's suggestions until a conversation with Whitley reminds him of Ron's positive traits and the strong sense of community at Hillman. He stands up for the school's academic standing to Milt. Meanwhile, Col. Taylor and Mr. Gaines attend a reunion for veterans, where Col. Taylor attempts to reignite a romance with a nurse he knew from Vietnam, only to find she's struggling in her life.
