Whitley secures a position as an assistant art buyer at E.H. Wright Industries and attends an auction in Washington, D.C. to gain insight. When her supervisor steps away to take a call, Whitley defies her instructions and places a bid on a piece by an emerging artist. Concerned about her job security, she is relieved when the artwork proves to be a wise purchase. Although her boss disapproves of her approach, she ultimately commends Whitley’s keen instinct and passion. Meanwhile, Freddie's philosophical radio show struggles to gain traction, but she finds success by adopting the persona of “Mother Eartha,” a Jamaican-born sage who offers advice to her audience.
