Ron is desperate to hide the fact that he hasn't graduated from his father. To maintain the facade, he wears a cap and gown during the ceremony. When Mr. Johnson extends his visit, Ron must finally come clean. Mr. Johnson is outraged by what he sees as his son's mistreatment and attempts, though in vain, to advocate for Ron with the dean. Meanwhile, Whitley faces a dilemma when her boss offers her a position at the main office in New York. Torn between her career and her relationship with Dwayne, they agree to give long-distance a shot. However, Whitley overhears Dwayne expressing doubts about their future, leading her to suggest a breakup before boarding her flight. Dwayne runs after her, proposing marriage just as she departs.
