Nell and the Kid (S02E21)

At "Max's Delicatessen," Nell and Max witness a girl attempting to steal. In a bid to help, Nell intervenes, claiming she’ll take the girl home. As they talk, Nell learns the girl is homeless after her parents abandoned her and her grandmother recently passed away. When the Chief learns of her situation, he considers arresting her, but she offers to stay with Max and assist at the store instead. Initially, their relationship is rocky, but they gradually come to terms with their shared struggles and the absence of loved ones from their lives.
