Peter brings in an efficiency consultant, Caitlin Mills, which creates tension for Amanda. Meanwhile, Alison becomes so absorbed in her relationship with Terry that she starts to ignore Billy. After Amanda pushes him, Michael digs into Peter's finances and uncovers that he's been inflating his earnings through a fake research project. Billy stumbles upon the fact that Peter and Caitlin are romantically involved. Jo hires a British woman, Emily Baldwin, to care for her son, whom she names Austin, as she plans to return to New York. Emily offers Jo a lift to the airport but instead drives away with the baby.
