Alison takes over as president of D&D, where she briefly engages in a liaison with Billy but soon decides to end it. Meanwhile, Brooke secures an internship at the company. Michael devises a scheme to fraudulently claim a million dollars from the city, blaming poor road conditions for his and Kimberly’s accident. He sends Kimberly to Rochester for a job interview, hoping to bring Amanda into the beach house under his watch. However, Amanda ends up in serious condition and is hospitalized. Jake receives the news of his mother’s passing and travels with Jo to Ellensburg for the funeral. There, he meets his half-brother Jess, who feels guilty and bitter about their past, particularly a robbery that Jess took the blame for. Although Jake and Jo share a night together, they agree to remain apart. Jake manages to reach a truce with Jess.
