Juggling a full-time job and evening college classes, Grace faces resentment from her children due to her constant absence. Things take a turn when she discovers that the refinery will stop funding her education, pushing her to seek alternative solutions. She finds out about a proficiency test that could earn her credits, but it conflicts with her work schedule, and no one can cover for her. While her co-workers emphasize the importance of her job for the family, her kids express their support for her decision. Ultimately, after a heartfelt conversation with her boss, John Shirley, Grace chooses to prioritize her education and resigns from her job.
