Earl, Hilton's cousin, has quietly admitted himself to the hospital for a colonoscopy, keeping it from his wife Lillian to spare her any concern. As Hilton plans to visit Earl, he cautions Ruth and Pauline to keep this news under wraps, especially since Lillian is on her way over. Meanwhile, Erica discovers her childhood jacks while going through her old belongings, sparking a spontaneous jacks tournament among the women. At the hospital, Hilton reassures Earl he’ll stay by him. However, after accidentally spilling coffee on himself and switching into a hospital gown, Hilton is mistakenly taken into the operating room. In a slip of the tongue, Pauline inadvertently reveals Earl’s location, prompting both Lillian and Ruth to rush to the hospital.
