Something Wicked (S01E04)

Leonardo and Tom are tasked with painting a portrait of Petronella, a young bride-to-be who is marrying the unscrupulous moneylender Lucio to save her father from his debts. Macchiavelli, recognizing Lucio as a childhood tormentor, devises a scheme with the artists to exploit Lucio's greed. They convince him to pay 100,000 florins for what they claim is the alchemist's stone, said to transform lead into gold. Once Lucio is stripped of his money, they frame him for art theft, ultimately freeing Petronella, who suspects "Tom's" true identity but chooses to remain silent.
