In this episode, Norm embarks on an adventurous quest at the suggestion of a friend involved in a historic river restoration. He sets out to canoe over rapids in search of unique white oak submerged for almost 150 years, originally used as a dam on Virginia's Rappahannock River. Norm discovers the wood, now a pile of salvage, waiting for a woodworker to rescue it. He enlists local sawyer Bill Jewell to transform this timber into pieces for a drop-leaved corner table inspired by one he found at Kenmore House, formerly owned by George Washington's sister. Norm faces the challenge of crafting elegant turned legs to replicate the original design.
