Louie makes the decision to purchase a high-end co-op apartment, with financial assistance from the recently affluent Jim. However, he first faces the daunting task of persuading the elitist co-op board that he belongs in their exclusive building. As he arrives, he witnesses them turning down actress Penny Marshall, disapproving of her celebrity lifestyle. Louie brings Alex along for moral support, but soon realizes the board holds prejudiced views. In a passionate outburst, Alex confronts their discriminatory practices, leading the board to accept Louie just to spite Alex's outcry.
