Naruto finds himself teamed up with Sai, much to his and Sakura's dismay, while Sakura is tasked with supporting Yamato. To evaluate Naruto and Sai's skills and cooperation, Yamato sets up a simulation of a spy meeting, taking on the role of the spy himself. During the exercise, Naruto falters while attacking Yamato, prompting Sai to immobilize him and proceed to capture Yamato on his own. Frustrated with Sai's lack of camaraderie, Naruto vows to collaborate with him for the sake of bringing Sasuke back. Meanwhile, Sai confides in Sakura about his emotional detachment and his struggle to understand feelings. The team then readies itself to head to the bridge.
