Jack Albertson portrays a former pool champion seeking to regain his lost respect. As he plays, the other men realize he's still got the skills, leading to some rough treatment from them. Meanwhile, Sally's husband aims to exploit Moses to make money for himself and Sally. Concerned about her husband’s gambling habits, Sally wants Dave to take her out. Moses, using Dave to reclaim his dignity, finds himself in a tense situation when Kitty asks some patrons to leave, fearing Moses could be in danger. Sally discovers that Dave bet their money on another player, hoping for a win. Despite the odds, Moses plays for the love of the game.
