The team, invited by historian David Small, travels to the small Caribbean island of Nevis for a six-day excavation focused on the island's history of sugar production and slavery. They are particularly interested in the overgrown Montravers Estate, once owned by affluent 18th-century Bristolian John Prater Pinney. Robin heads to Bristol University to delve into the extensive records. Meanwhile, back on Nevis, pottery expert David Barker examines shards, most of which he dates to the 1840s. Phil ventures to nearby St. Kitts to assist in sugar production from cane, while Stewart explores the jungle in search of a former slave village, joined by local historian David Rollinson.
