The Time Team collaborates with air crash investigators to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic crash of two B-17 bombers on February 21, 1944, in the marshes near Reedham, Norfolk, which resulted in the loss of all crew members. The bombers were returning from a bombing mission against a German target as part of the Big Week offensive. As they recover parts from one of the aircraft, the Team interviews surviving crew members from a third bomber that was part of the same formation. Additionally, they explore a piece of nose art created as a tribute to the bomber crews, painted by a former Red Cross volunteer during WWII.
