In Brighton Beach, New York City, Yaponchik brutally murders a Russian Elder, shooting him in the face with a 12-gauge shotgun. This marks the third similar killing where the body was disfigured to hinder identification. Frank teams up with N.Y.P.D. Lieutenant McCormick, Yura Surova from the Moscow Police, and undercover officer Andrei Medikov to probe the case. As they examine the Elder's remains, Frank spots a peculiar mark resembling an inverted "V," but he struggles to decipher its significance at first.
