Uncle Joe is less than enthusiastic about converting the Cannonball's baggage car into a traveling library, and the thought of constructing the shelves doesn't excite him either. However, his perspective shifts when he meets the charming librarian, Phyllis Marsh, and he quickly develops a fondness for her. Despite their significant age gap, Joe isn't hesitant to pursue her romantically. Meanwhile, Phyllis must delicately reject his advances, as she is already engaged. She introduces her fiancé, Hal Jackson, to Kate, who devises a clever scheme to illustrate to Uncle Joe why he and Phyllis are not a suitable match.
