The campaign for Japan begins poorly for the Black Knights. Luciano and Bismark cut through their forces, with only Li Xingke holding them off. Suzaku and Lelouch meet to talk about Nunnally. After initial hostility, Lelouch persuades Suzaku to his side. But Schneizel has his personal guard arrest Lelouch, making him think Suzaku betrayed him. Schneizel and Lelouch have a private conversation, and Lelouch is rescued by Guilford, whom Lelouch had previously Geassed into believing he is Cornelia. Using the Gefjun Disturber train network, Lelouch shuts down the Tokyo Settlement. His reinforcements rise from the ocean, ready to seize the moment. Meanwhile, the Emperor prepares for Ragnarök.
