Inside the Sword of Akasha, Lelouch uncovers the truth behind his mother's death as both the Emperor and Marianne herself explain their plan: to reshape the world into a gentle place free of lies by initiating Ragnarök. Lelouch nearly reconciles with them, but pulls back when he realizes their vision leaves no room for the future. Pushing his Geass to its next stage, he defeats the Emperor with the help of the collective human unconscious—the very "gods" the Emperor sought to destroy—reducing both him and Marianne to ash. With Ragnarök over, Lelouch ascends as the new Emperor, using his Geass to force the court's dissenters into submission. He appoints Suzaku as his "Knight of Zero," while C.C. watches silently from the shadows.
