Doc Stuart stuns the valley residents with his decision to enter semi-retirement and reduce his hours while bringing on a new partner. To everyone's astonishment, Dr. Janet Craig shows up for the position. Aware that gaining the trust of the local community will be challenging, especially among the older folks who oppose having a woman doctor, Janet is determined to prove herself. Meanwhile, Joe devises a scheme to eliminate Dr. Craig, but his efforts only strengthen her resolve to remain and succeed in her new role.
